Going to the movie theater used to be a limited experience, but Cinetopia has shown that model can be improved dramatically. The movies are just one of the many attractions at this entertainment complex, which includes eight screens for films, a wine bar, restaurant and art gallery.
“People used to go to the theaters, watch a movie and just leave,” says Jerid Falconer, general manager. “Now people spend five or six hours here.”
Most theaters offer newly released movies, but few can boast about an executive chef on the premises.
Vinotopia, a restaurant and wine bar, serves customers before and after movies within its dedicated space.
“We have several people who stop in just to visit the restaurant,” Falconer says.
Vinotopia offers a full menu and an automated wine tasting system that allows patrons to sample from more than 100 wines from around the globe. It has wine-tasting classes for the beginner or connoisseur and a monthly wine-makers dinner. It also has touch-screen computers at the wine bar that allow customers to educate themselves about the world of wines.
The art gallery spans the entire complex and contains the works of regional and international artists. Patrons may view and buy the works exhibited there.
Performing art is showcased, as well. Before shows, patrons may enjoy live piano music in the restaurant, wine bar and the three, 65-seat Living Room Theaters.
Cinetopia Theaters opened in July 2005, and business has been booming ever since.
“We’re very unique. There are only a handful of companies across the country that offer what we do,” Falconer says. “Movies used to be for younger people, but we give the adults a place to enjoy. The reception we’ve had has been fantastic.”
